Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Doubters Alert

What commonly accepted truth (or “truth”) do you think is wrong, or at least seriously doubt?  Why?

Fluffy on the way to the vets

“Now that is a silly question. I would say when human believe that we should visit the vets once a year for jabs. Just look at me. Trapped in a wire cage and feeling threatened.”

“But Fluffy, the humans say it is for your own good. It protects you from all sorts of bad illnesses that felines can have.”

“Tabby do you believe that rubbish?”

“No, not really Fluffy, but they have to have a reason for paying so much money to the vet for doing it all.”

“Exactly Tabby, it is all a question of them thinking that it is for our own good. They would be better off spending the money on tins of tuna fish.”

“On the other hand I remember once when I had problems to swallow, my throat hurt. We had to go to the vet and he gave Mrs. Human some medicine for me and it cured me.”

“So you just sat there and let her give you the medicine.”

“Are you joking, I am a feline, definitely not. It is in chapter 10, verse 3 of the book of Bastet “never take medicine voluntarily. Fight all the way. Do no believe the humans that it is good for you.”

“Bravo Tabby, so what happened?”

“Mrs. Human had to take me back to the vet for a jab because I refused to take the medicine.”

“Wouldn’t it have been easier to just take the medicine?”

“Of course, but it would have been below my dignity. Only take medicine with a fight, is my motto.”

“Do you remember when she crushed and mixed a tablet in yogurt.?”

“That was a big problem Fluffy. I like yogurt.”

“So what happened?” I closed my eyes and swallowed the yogurt, and managed to leave the tablet pieces in the bowl.”

“What did Mrs. Human do?”

“She didn’t notice it, and I recovered in any case, which just goes to prove all that expensive medicine from the vet is just as good as a bowl of yogurt.”

“Tabby, I have lost you in your feline logic, but you are probably right.”
