WordPress Daily Prompt: Fearful Symmetry

Pick a letter, any letter. Now, write a story, poem, or post in which every line starts with that letter.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us SYMMETRY.

Slug

Sliding through the mud
Slipping on a bug
Sloshing in the water
Such is life as slug

Silently take rest
Sleeping in a hole
Sticky do not touch
Slimy is my goal

Suddenly I fly
Sailing through the air
Stupid human fingers
Sling without a care

Snails, they have a house
Seems that I have none
Sinking into water
Sometimes this is fun

See, I can be nice
Sometimes even great
So now am on my way
Soon I will meet my fate

WordPress Daily Prompt: Unleash your Inner Dickinson

National Poetry Writing Month is nearly at an end. To celebrate it, try your hand at some verse.
Train Departure Solothurn Main Station

Pregnant silence prevailed at the station
In the air something?
A mouse skipped over the rail
Hurrying to find refuge
Pigeons pecking scraps
Took to the sky
Humans gathered on the platform
Carrying bags
Pulling packed cases
A flurry
No, a wind engulfed time and space
A voice boomed out
The train arriving at platform 1…..
blergle, bumble, blah
Deafening noise
An arrival, an appearance
Doors opening
People pushing
Jumbling up the entrance stairs
Mind the doors, the blow of a whistle
Silence prevailed
The train departed
The mouse returned, relieved
Pigeons repossessed their crumbs
People gathered
Waiting for the next train

A Halloween Poem

Nera

It was the night of Halloween
A night so cold and dark
Pickwick the cat was alone in his lair
Beneath a tree in the park

He had seen many ghosts come and go
He had no longer fear
He was tired and just wanted to rest
And then a meow he did hear

Oh help me please, I am so cold
I feel so hungry and alone
My mother died two days ago
Please let me have a home

Pickwick wondered what this voice could be
It sounded so lost and sad
He dragged himself outside to see
It could not be so bad

His eyes were weak with age and then
He was so deeply smitten
Before his tree there was a shape
It looked just like a kitten

Oh help me please on this dark night
I have nowhere to go
Please give me warmth and perhaps some food
Then Pickwick spoke so slow

I am so old my little cat
My years are nearly gone
but you are welcome in my home

It is only a small salon

The time had come for the ghosts to appear

From places and years gone bye
a special ghost was looking down
for Pickwick must not die

Then laughter suddenly filled the air
The children wanted to eat
They were knocking at the doors in town
And asking trick or treat

As Julie passed by Pickwick’s tree
she looked down and saw the cat
She saw the kitten and felt so sad
As both were not so fat

She called her friends to come and see
the cats hungry and alone
They need some warmth and food to eat
I will take them to my home

So Julie took them both along
and forgot the trick or treat
She wanted that the cats were fed
And gave them food to eat

The spirit of a mother cat
Watched on this Halloween night
She was so happy and could now rest
Her kitten no longer had fright

And so it came to pass this night
that Pickwick and the kitten were found
And Julie had now two cats
who were fed and grew quite round

So if you ever take a walk
On the evening of Halloween
Then think of all the lonely cats
That are waiting to be seen

The spirits of cats long gone
will be hoping for a treat
That the lonely cats will be found
and given food to eat

MULTIPLY Creative Challenge #21: Unspoken Looks

Nera looking through the window

What does Nera want to say
Perhaps just come out and play
Her eyes are pleading, begging for fun
I know what she wants, she just wants to run
For a titbit of fine feline food
She seems to be in the mood
I approach her, she moves in her silky stealth
Please throw it and watch I can catch it myself
The tit bit has changed to a mouse in the air
And Nera is happy with her capture so fair
What will she do, eat it or chase?
She knows where the fun is
There is no haste
I watch her and wait for a message, she flies
through the air but the answer it lies in her eyes

Tabby - the life of a cat

Tabby lies outstretched, she purrs with her muzzle
Now what does she want, another cat puzzle
She watches me intently with her eyes and pleads
I know this look and just what she needs
She shows her tummy, the lady is fickle
Her look is unspoken

I want a tummy tickle
She moves her paws in rhythm with the strokes
she shows contentment, the feeling she soaks
and now her head she lifts a little
because it is time time for a raised chin tickle
Yes the cats they have no need to speak
Their looks are unspoken you just have to seek

Gröggu having a sleep

The smallest of all is Fluffy and blind
He cannot ask with his eyes,
and only his mind
He knows what he wants, he drifts away
He lays on the chair and is there to stay

Searching Nirvana is his one and only game
He buries his head and paws all the same
The rhythm is in time with his thoughts so sublime
he knows where he is, is no longer mine
Possessed by a feline longing to go
to a land far away and he purrs so low
he is happy, content, away from the world
in his own feline place on the chair he is curled

He cannot see, he feels the word
he purrs in his silence, but he still can be heard
