Trick or Trick

Let’s imagine it’s Halloween, and you just ran out of candy. If the neighborhood kids (or anyone else, really) were to truly scare you, what trick would they have to subject you to?

Based on the truth

“What are you doing?”

“Writing my daily prompt.”

“I though you no longer wanted to do that.”

“Not really, but have nothing better to do with my time, to did you want to go for a walk to the cemetery.”

“No, I want to read the newspaper and why the cemetery.”

“Today is halloween, might be a few dead bodies moving around. I think tomorrow will be more interesting. All souls day, the day we all pay a visit.”

“Like with the rest of the village - no, too many people, rush hour at the cemetery. We got an interesting letter today.”

“From the undertaker.”

“No, from a political party.”

“Oh good, that suits my daily prompt titled “Trick or Trick”. What does it say?”

“They ask if we would like to join as an active member. We have just had elections and now they want to share their triumph with us. An invite to the party meeting in November is included. It will all be about the new budget and the results of the elections. They are sending a form where we can express our wishes for their activities with the opportunity to join in.”

“No, I don’t think so.I am sure that new guy we all voted for will be there and I don’t like him.

“But everyone else did.”

“He wears patent leather shoes.”

“But he is a good politiciant.”

“Politicians with black shiny shoes are suspect. a real trick or trick. Where is the meeting taking place.”

“At the village restaurant”

“Oh good, free food and drink in an Italian restaurant.”

“Who says it’s free? And the restaurant only has an Italian name, but they still serve cervelat salad, like all good Swuss restaurants. It says on the invitation that they are looking forward to seeing us.

There s also a form in attached to the letter to enable you to make an official application to join the party.”

“I am not looking forward to seeing them, especially the guy with the shiny shoes. He also has a beard. “

“So do I.”

“That is different. As I said, Trick or Trick. What do they pay if I join?”

“They don’t, you pay.”

“Huh”

“But they are very fair. You can be a member for 50 francs, if we both join it costs 50 francs for both of us and if you are still studying, go to school or an apprentice it is only 20 francs. Of course you can just be  sponsor or patron - that costs nothing”

“Good let’s be patrons.”

“Wait a minute, if you are really interested you can fill out the form and take a job as member, delegate, voting office duty, even president of the village.”

“What do they pay?”

“It is all int he name of the party.”

“I thought that was what Stalin said. Ok, no interest. I will return to my daily prompt.”

“I thought you didn’t have anything to write about.”

“I do now, so many tricks in one letter must be a record.
