At what age did you realize you were not immortal? How did you react to that discovery?
“I think Mrs. Human is getting all ethereal with her photo choice. Instead of a photo of me or you, or even our late sister Nera, she has a photo of a stone, although it is an important stone according to humans.”
“What is it Tabby?”
“It is symbolises the 50th degree of latitude in that part of Germany where she was staying for her overgrown kitten’s wedding.”
“Is it something to do with being immortal?”
“Of course not, and why we felines are answering so a stupid prompt I do not know. Fluffy we are immortal.”
“Yes of course we are. Perhaps humans don’t know that we are immortal.”
“How can they when they do not have Bastet. All cats are immortal. We get our tenth life when we enter the eternal corn chambers.”
“Perhaps we should explain it to Mrs. Human.”
“I don’t think that would be a good idea Fluffy. I can hear her now.
“Mrs.Human don’t worry when we are gone, because we are not gone, we have just gone up a rung on the ladder. We return to our godlike state in the eternal corn chambers.”
“Rubbish felines, we will never forget you, but you will be over the rainbow bridge waiting for us to arrive.”
“Oh, let her believe that fairy story Tabby, if it makes her happy. I, for one, do not want to cross any rainbow bridge, I don't like bridges or the water below.”
“Of course not Fluffy, we will float up to the Eternal Corn chambers, where there will be enough mice to share for all. We will get our 10th life and will return to the area when we were worshipped as Gods.”
“Do you think I will qualify, being blind.”
“Of course you will Fluffy, they have a special section of mice with stronger smells for blind felines.”
“Great, when can we go?”
“Not yet Fluffy, we will wait until our time has come. In the meanwhile there will be many dishes of tuna fish to eat.”
