Daily Feline Prompt: A Cat called Nera

You have 20 minutes to write a post that includes the words mailbox, bluejay, plate, syrup, and ink. And one more detail… the story must include a dog named Bob

Nera

“Hi cats”

“Look Tabby, it’s Nera paying us a visit.”

“Nice to see you Nera, did not expect you today, otherwise we would have tidied up a bit, or at least told Mrs. Human to tidy up.”

“No problem Fluffy and Tabby, I have been given a days holiday to pay you both a visit.”

“Great, how comes a holiday.”

“Today I am celebrating my first anniversary of living in the eternal corn chambers. I was glad to leave, today is “Day of the dogs” and any dogs with the after life can visit us. The place is swarming with dogs who heard how great it is with Bastet.”

“Doesn’t sound so good Nera, with all those dogs.”

“It is not so bad. I met one on my way out called Bob. He was quite nice and asked where we kept the bones. I had to disappoint him by telling him we have no bones, just whiskers remaining from the mice. By the way I am now allowed to send messages by post, so keep an eye on the mail box.”

“Really?”

“No, actually not, I still send messages by telepathy, but the prompt was not made to fit with feline gifts. Although I could arrange to send a bluejay if you are interested.”

“What’s that?”

“Tabby, Fluffy, that is a bird, you know meals on wings.”

“Never heard of it. Probably something from another place and being colour blind we wouldn’t recognise one if we saw one.”

“What about a drink before I go to celebrate my anniversary.”

“Of course Nera, time flies, you have already been gone a year. Anyhow here is a plate of tuna fish juice, the syrup of the felines. Perhaps you could let us have your paw print before leaving as a memory of the day. Fluffy, bring the ink pad.”

“Here Nera. Oh that looks lovely, lets scan it into our pawpads as a background picture.”

“Good idea Fluffy. I think I can hear Mrs. Human.”

“Yes, I should go felines and thanks for the welcome. We don’t want Mrs. Human fainting when she sees her departed chief feline. We are having a little celebration this evening in the eternal corn chambers to celebrate my arrival when the dog visits are finished.”
