Daily Feline Prompt: Felines want to know what love is

Is there a single idea or definition that runs through all the varieties of “love”?

The beginning of a friendhsip - Fluffy and Roschti

“Everyone knows that “love” does not exist in meow, so what’s the fuss.”

“Exactly Tabby, but did you see Roschti in the garden. I was watching him, but I don’t think that love stuff was involved.”

“Definitely not, I saw him approach. He was sniffing our new earth and looking for a suitable place to leave Roschti scent.”

“I know Tabby, but he didn’t go.”

“He left eventually when he realised there was no love lost between us and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. What about your mum and dad Tabby, did they love each other.”

“Fluffy do not ask silly questions. Mum went for a walk and this tom cat turned up and gave her a sniff. She sniffed back and that was that.”

“You mean they decided to have a family.”

“Not exactly Fluffy, that was the side effect. The only problem was that when mum swiped him off with her paw, there was another tom cat waiting.”

“And?”

“We were four kittens, two short haired and two long furred.”

“Meaning”

“No. 1 dad had short fur and No. 2 dad had long fur.”

“Oh, I see. It was different with my mum and dad, it was an arranged meeting.”

“Arranged?”

“Yes, I am a thoroughbred Selkirk Rex. Dad was Cool Man and Mum was Lucy. They both had curly fur and were the same sort. They even had papers to prove it.”

“Do you have papers Fluffy?”

“No, and neither do my three sisters. I think in a way it was a love thing, although they had no choice.”

“Do we ever have choices Fluffy, no. They didn’t ask us if we wanted to visit the vet on that memorable day, but I don’t mind. Who wants meowing kittens begging for food. No we are fancy free and ready to go.”

“Exactly Tabby, enjoy life while you can.”

  1. Roschti looks quite comfortable there, despite Fluffy "staring" at him
