And another new super blogging site raises its head on the horizon

I just have to express my views and shake out the anger.

Since Multiply decided to go into big business and threw all its social visitors out with three months notice, we have all been searching for a new home. Some went there, some went further and some have just disappeared. I decided on Blogspot. OK, admittedly I have made web sites myself, so have a small idea on how to make one yourself.

I had to ask what am I looking for. Multiply was very good on the creative side of things. We had writing groups, photography groups etc. and we had the advantage of seeing what your "friends" were doing and making a comment. Whether we made the comment or not, is another case, but forget it. I like writing, I like photography and thankfully a few of my colleagues that emigrated to Blogspot organised groups where we can join. I don't need an audience, I do have a life with other things than just blogging.

Of course, not everyone is happy. You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. Some did not like the way blogspot works. They had to learn how to do it - Multiply just served it on a plate. Also Blogspot is a html site and Multiply was css. Personally I dislike css, always did, and prefer html - but as said that is my opinion.

So OK, since September we have been searching and found new homes. Now, two weeks before the closing Multiply time, a few of the Multiply people have sent us all an invitation to a Ning site they have built up with all the advantages of Multiply plus probably more, called Muze. I do not want to sound ungrateful as I know the vast amount of work involved in building such a site, fulfilling everyone's wishes and doing the right thing.

Speaking for myself, I am now settled in Blogspot, I like it and enjoy discovering new developments every day. I especially like the connection with Google+ where you really can reach people. In my opinion it is Facebook on a higher level. No stupid copy pasting but posts with showing some wonderful photographic talents and the ability to connect to people that give useful information. They don't have to connect with you, just very interesting and informative.

I am not, have never been, looking for a Multiply substitute. I have found what I want here and I am staying and will not be going to any sort of Ning site, boomer site (which I really detest) or whatever they are all called. In wordpress I have a backup, but there again you meet interesting people, writers, photographers and there are also interesting blogs on animals and cooking. So please spare me with the new developments. It is getting so confusing and I am disappointed the way some Multiply people have behaved. Sorry, but I have to say it.

  1. Fair enough, but if there is an improved version of Multiply, I would not hesitate to test it out. Blogger isn't my first choice.

  4. Why angry? You don't have to accept. But not everyone is as happy as you are with Blogger so for them it may be a good alternative.

  6. I'm pretty much of a similar opinion, with the exception that I don't like the Google+ option, but then I just choose to keep it disabled. I think there will be quite a few of us who have discovered the delights of Blogger who will be happily staying here. After all the work I put into the PT site, I am definately staying here.

  7. I also like my little blogspot and will stay on, I do hate the google+ option though, far too complicated and probably a reason why a lot of people gave up. It is too much to navigate around with, much better and neater without.
Look forward to a new chapter, thank you Pat.
