Daily Feline Prompt: Feline Climate Control

The idea that the weather and feline’s moods are connected is quite old. Do you agree? If yes, how does the weather affect your mood?

Tabby

“Mrs. Human, put my sleeping cushion in a warm place.”

“But it is warm inside.”

“Yes, but there are places in my home where it is warmer. Just below the window is a very warm place. Yes, that’s right, just a little to the left and no, no, more towards the carpet. Yes, that will do. Just put a bowl of those dehydrated pellets next to the bed in case I awake and feel hungry.”

“Anything else Tabby?”

“No, that will do.”

“I am now going shopping.”

“Oh, Mrs. Human, bring me some chopped chicken livers. I read in Pawbook that they are very healthy for felines, gives them strength and energy.”

“Tabby you look very healthy to me. Just keep with the vitamin enriched food and then you will stay fit, although it might be an idea to go for a walk now and again, it is healthy and good for the circulation.”

“Healthy? are you mad. It is cold outside, temperatures of only 5° C, My whiskers will freeze and break, not to mention the 2x 30 muscle in my ears. And my paws? They loose their movement, my blood will freeze. Just make sure you close the windows and doors before you go, I do not like draughts. I don’t need circulation, just correct human attention and treatment.”

“But Tabby, I always thought that felines were outdoor animals, hardened to weather conditions.”

“Mr. Human, do you wear short trousers in Winter?”

“Tabby, it is far too cold.”

“And I wear the same fur coat Summer and Winter. You humans are not very logical are you. Cover the cat flap with a blanket before you leave to stop the cold air entering my home. It’s Winter you know, I have to make sure I keep nice and warm.”

    1. They seem to know when it is better to stay inside where it is nice and warm.
